In the process of networking, I learned a great deal about other industries. That was a rare opportunity. Remember to always leverage your past supplier/vendor network, even from several jobs ago.

Write those long overdue recommendations for peers and mentors on LinkedIn. Pass along job leads.
Use this rare surplus of time:
Although my job search was a full-time job, I did manage to do many other things I've wanted to do. For example, I raised my expertise of social media marketing by building the visibility for a non-profit foundation.
