In December 2008, two members of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Poway, California, started a ministry called InlandNet which “Brings All the Right People Together”. The ministries vision was simple – to help people in transition find new careers.
Our vision focuses on:
- Providing assistance to people who are in transition
- Training people on how to find jobs
- Providing resources that are not normally available at networking events
The mission of this Career Ministry is to bring people together in a social network that assists those in transition (or about to be in transition) in finding new employment. What makes us unique is that InlandNet provides resources that are not normally available at networking events. These may include financial counseling, spiritual guidance and psychological counseling for participants and their families.
Fast Facts:
- This ministry makes the church relevant in the world. Doing the work Jesus called us to do…helping each other.
- As of December 2009, InlandNet has assisted over 80 members in finding career opportunities (see testimonials). The group is 500 members strong and growing rapidly.
- There is never a charge for services or to participate but donations are accepted.
- The InlandNet team has developed a communication system that allows members to receive career opportunity leads from local human resources managers or member connections significantly increasing the probability of obtaining an interview.
- Interview skills and other job search enabling events will be offered in the future.
- The Executive Team and Board of Trustees are all volunteers, either working in the San Diego Community or in their own career transition, who have offered to help others in their transition.
InlandNet consists of an Executive Team, which meets the first Wednesday of each month right after the Networking Meeting and a Board of Trustees, which was recently established.
